Wheat puttu / Gothambu puttu

  This is one of popular breakfast food of Kerala. It's simple, easy and healthy breakfast. Wheat puttu pairs well with banana, egg curry, kadala curry and also pairs well with meat curries. Follow the step by step procedures to get a soft puttu. 

INGREDIENTS :-

* Wheat flour - 2 cups

* Water - 1 cup

* Sugar - 1 tsp

* Salt - to taste

* Grated coconut - 6-7tbs

METHOD :-

* To a bowl add flour and salt. 

* Mix well. 

* Boil the water along with sugar. 

* Let it vigorously boil. 

* Turn off the flame. 

* Pour this boiling water to the flour. 

* Mix with a spatula. 

* Close it for 2 minutes. When it becomes completely cooled. 

*  Add 3 - 4 tbs of this wet flour to a mixer jar or a food processor. 

* Add  2 tsp of dry wheat flour to this. 

* Pulse it couple of time. This will remove the lumps and form soft puttu. 

* Do the same until the dough is finished. 

* Now take the puttu making gadget. 

* Fill water in the bottom pot of the puttu gadget and heat it up. 

* Take the funnel of puttu gadget. 

* Drop the holed disc inside the funnel. 

* Then start layering it. First add 3/4 tbs of grated coconut. Followed by puttu mixture until the middle of the funnel. 

* Then again add grated coconut followed by puttu mixture, then add grated coconut on the top. The top, middle and the bottom of the funnel should have grated coconut. 

* After that place the funnel over the pot. 

* Cook this for 3-4 minutes, till the

Steam will come out from the top of the funnel. 

* Take a spatula or a stick. Push the disc with this. So the puttu come out from the funnel. 

* Serve hot with your favorite side dish.
