Dal pakoda / Lentil Fritters
Dal pakoda also known as Bhajiya or lentil fritters is a popular Indian snack made by deep frying a spiced mixture of soaked and ground lentils. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, dal pakodas are especially loved during the monsoon and winter seasons, often paired with a hot of tea. They pair perfectly with spicy green chutney, sweet tamarind chutney or even with ketchup. In many Indian household, the aroma of dal pakodas frying in the kitchen is synonymous with rainy days Or family gatherings. They are very comforting and filling. It can be served as a snack, a festive treat or as an appetizer. Let's see how to make this.
INGREDIENTS :-
* Peas parippu Or peas lentils - 1/4 cup
* Onion - 2 medium
* Green chilli - 3
* Chopped Ginger and garlic - 1 1/2 tsp
* Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
* Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp
* Dried red Chilli - 3
* Coriander leaves - 2 tbs
* Curry leaves - 1 sprig
* Salt - to taste
* Oil - for deep frying
METHOD :-
* Soak the lentils along with dried red chilli for 3 hours.
* Then drian out the water and grind it to a coarse paste without adding water.
* Transfer this to a bowl.
* Slice the onions. Transfer this to a bowl. Then gently mix it with your hands, so that the onions becomes soft.
* Then add coarsely grinded peas dal, chopped green chilli, chopped ginger and garlic, fennel seeds, chopped curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves and salt to this.
* Mix everything well.
* Heat oil for deep frying in a khadai.
* When the oil becomes hot, take small ball out of this, then gently press with your hands to make vada shape.
* Then drop it into the hot oil.
* Deep fry them until golden brown and crispy.
* Tasty dal pakoda is ready. Serve hot.
