Mambazha pulissery

    Mambazha pulissery is a traditional dish from Kerala. This dish is prepared by using ripe mangoes in coconut paste and yogurt gravy. This dish is a unique blend of sweet and sour, that make it an irresistible accompaniment to steamed rice. 

INGREDIENTS :-

* Ripe mangoes - 2 big

* Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup

* Green chilli - 2

* Chilli powder - 1 tsp

* Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

* Fenugreek powder - 1/4 tsp

* Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

* Curd - 3/4 cup

* Dried chilli - 2

* Jaggery powder - 1 tsp

* Mustard seed - 1/2 tsp

* Shallots - 3

* Curry leaves - 2 sprig

* Coconut oil - 2 tbs

* Salt - to taste

METHOD :-

* Peel and Cut the ripe mangoes into medium sized pieces. 

* To an earthen pot add the mango pieces, chilli powder, turmeric powder, splitted green chilli, 1 sprig curry leaves and salt. 

* Cook this until the mangoes are cooked well. 

* Just slightly mash the mango pieces with a spatula. Set aside. 

* To a mixer jar add grated coconut, cumin seeds. 

* Grind it nicely by adding enough water. 

* Add this to the cooked mango mix. 

* Mix it and again cook until the raw taste of coconut paste is gone. 

* Whisk the curd without any lumps. 

* Add this curd to the curry along with jaggery powder. Mix it. 

* Then turn off the flame. 

* Stir it for 2 minute. 

* For tempering heat a pan add coconut oil. 

* When it becomes hot add the mustard seed, wait till it pops up. 

* To this add shallots pieces and dried red chilli. 

* Saute it till the shallots turns golden brown color. Then add curry leaves. Mix it. 

* Turn off the flame. 

* Add this to the curry along with fenugreek powder. 

* Close the lid for 5 minutes. 

* Tasty mambazha pulissery is ready.
