Spicy mutton curry recipe / mutton masala curry



    This is a traditional style naadan mutton curry. It's a semi thick gravy. Goes well with paratha, ghee rice, pathiri..... We usually prefer pathiri or paratha with this curry. This is a spicy mutton curry. Not adding too much of spices but rather the taste is astounding  mouth watering recipe. My grandma make this curry in earthen pot, But now a days we make this curry in pressure cooker.

    Let's see the step-by-step instructions for making this naadan mutton curry.


Combination:-

* Pathiri + spicy mutton curry

* Ghee rice + spicy mutton curry

* Paratha + spicy mutton curry


INGREDIENTS:-

* Mutton - 1 1/2 kg

* Shallots - 200gm

* Onion - 1 big

* Garlic - 15

* Ginger - 2 Inch piece

* Tomato - 1 big

* Coriander powder - 1 Tbsp

* Chilly powder - 3 Tsp

* Green chilly - 4

* Pepper powder - 1 Tbsp

* Meat masala powder - 1 1/2 Tsp

* Garam masala - 1/2 Tsp

* Turmeric powder - 3/4 Tsp

* Oil - 4 Tbsp

* Ghee - 1 Tbsp

* Curry leaves - 2 sprigs

* Coriander leaves - 2 Tbsn


METHOD:-

* Put a pressure cooker on the stove, add ghee when it becomes hot add 5 sliced shallots saute it till it becomes light brown colour.

* Add washed mutton pieces, pepper powder, 1 Inch piece chopped ginger, turmeric powder, green chilly and salt.

* Mix it well for 1 - 2 minutes. Add 1 cup of water.

* Cook this till one whistle. When the pressure is completely gone, open the lid.

* Put kadai on the stove add oil then add  the remaining sliced shallots.

* Saute it till it becomes light brown colour.

* To this add sliced onion again saute it till it becomes light brown colour.

* Add ginger garlic paste, saute it till the raw taste is completely gone.

* Add  coriander powder, chilly powder and meat masala powder. Saute it for 30 seconds.

* Then add chopped tomato and curry leaves. Saute it till the oil separates.

* Add half cooked mutton pieces to this.

* Boil this in high flame for 5 minutes.

* Turn the flame to medium. Let it boil for 20 - 25 minutes (till it becomes thick gravy).

* Turn off the flame, add coriander leaves and garam masala powder.

* Close the lid for 5 minutes.

* Tasty spicy mutton curry is ready to serve.
