Dal khichdi / Toor dal khichdi


  Dal khichdi recipe made with rice and  dal. It's a simple and healthy recipe from Indian Cuisine. Delicious Dal khichdi is a protein packed aromatic yummy dish. This is a quick recipe, can be made under 20 - 25 minutes. It can be consumed regularly as a part of healthy diet. No side dish is required for this. Just pickle is sufficient.

 During plating add 1 Tsp of butter will enhance the taste of Dal khichdi.

 Let's see how to make this delicious recipe.


INGREDIENTS :-

* Raw rice - 3/4 cup

* Toor dal - 1/4 cup

* Hot Water - 4 cups

* Tomato - 1

* Onion - 1

* Garlic - 7

* Green chilly - 1

* Sambar powder - 1 1/2 Tsp

* Kashmiri chilly powder - 1/2 Tsp

* Asafoetida powder - 1/4 Tsp

* Ghee - 2 Tbsn

* Coriander leaves - 1 Tbsp

* Salt - to taste

* Cumin seeds - 1 Tsp


METHOD :-

* Soak the rice and dal for 15 minutes.

* Put a pressure cooker on the stove add 1 1/2 Tbsn ghee, then add cumin seeds, when it pops up add garlic pieces.

* Saute it till it becomes light brown colour.

* Add chopped onion and green chilly. Saute it till it becomes light brown colour.

* Add sambar powder, chilly powder, asafoetida powder and salt. Saute it for 30 seconds.

* Then add tomato pieces and coriander leaves, saute it till the ghee seperates.

* Strain the soaked rice and dal.

* Add this to the tomato mix. Saute it for 1 minute.

* Then add 4 cups of hot water to this.

* Cook for 3 whistles.

* Turn off the flame.

* When the pressure is completely gone open the lid. Add 1/2 Tsp of ghee and mix well.

* Tasty dal khichdi is ready to serve.
