Soya chunks curry / soya chunks masala


  Soya chunk recipe is a very healthy dish to include protein in our diet. It's a best side dish for chapati, ghee rice, rice etc. This is my mom's recipe. First step is shallow fry the cooked Soya chunks. It will give an extra taste to the curry. If you don't like to fry the soya chunks then add boiled soya chunks to the curry. Some times we add chopped carrot and potato. But in this curry i am not adding any vegetables. 

  Let's see the step-by-step instructions for how to make this Soya chunks curry.


INGREDIENTS:-

* Soya chunks - 50 gm

* Onion - 2

* Tomato - 1

* Ginger - garlic paste - 1 1/2 Tsp

* Green chilly - 2

* Chilly powder - 1 1/2 Tsp

* Coriander powder - 2 Tsp

* Turmeric powder - 1/2 Tsp

* Garam masala powder - 1 Tsp

* Salt - to taste

* Oil - 1 Tbsp + 2 Tbsn

* Coriander leaves - 2 Tbsn


METHOD :-

* Boil the soya chunks along with enough water. Let it rest for 20 minutes.

* Wash it and squeeze out the water from the soya chunks. Cut into 2 or 3 pieces. 

* Add 1/2 Tsp chilly powder, 1/4 Tsp turmeric powder, little salt. Mix well.

* Put a pan on the stove add 1 Tbsp oil when it becomes hot add soya chunks. Shallow fry till light brown colour.

* Put a pressure cooker on the stove add 2 Tbsn oil then add chopped onion, saute it till it becomes light brown colour.

* Add ginger - garlic paste saute it till the raw taste is completely gone.

* Add chopped tomato and green chilly, saute it till the oil separates.

* To this add chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt. 

* Mix it well for 30 seconds.

* Add fried soya chunks along with water.

* Cook for 2 whistles.

* Turn off the flame. 

* When the pressure of the cooker is completely gone open the lid , add coriander leaves. Mix well.

* Tasty soya chunks curry is ready to serve.
