IDLI PODI / chutney powder

       

       Idli podi with oil is one of the best combination for idli. The fluffy idli dipped in this idli podi is a guaranteed delight. Use sesame oil or coconut oil for wetting the idli podi. Idli podi recipe, I'm sharing here is which I have been making for a long time.  Homemade idli podi has a special taste and is free of preservatives. It is also used as a substitute to chutney while travelling. Idli podi can also be eaten with hot boiled rice by mixing it with coconut oil or ghee.

INGREDIENTS:-

* Steamed rice - 1 cup

* Urad dal - 1 cup

* Chana dal - 1 cup

* Dried red chilly - 30

* Peppercorns - 1 Tbsp

* Asafoetida - 1Tsp

* Curry leaves - 4 sprigs

* Salt - to taste


PREPARATION:-

* Dry roast all the ingredients one by one except asafoetida powder and salt.

* After cooling down powder it with salt and asafoetida powder.

* Keep it in a air tight container.

* It keeps good for several months.

* Serve with idli , dosa.....
