Easy potato curry

    This potato curry is very easy to prepare. Made with potato, tomato, onion. My potato curry is also one of those recipes that you can make in a hurry. My mom used to make this easy potato curry for all of us. The combo of boiled rice and this tasty potato curry would be very comforting. This is a semi thick gravy. Not a dry dish. This can also serve with roti. INGREDIENTS :- * Potato - 2 medium * Tomato - 1 medium * Onion - 1 * Oil - 2Tbs * Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 Tsp * Mustard seeds - 1/4 Tsp * Salt - to taste * Coriander powder - 1 1/2 Tsp * Chilly powder - 3/4 Tsp * Turmeric powder - 1/4 Tsp * Curry leaves - 1 spring PREPARATION:- * Take the potato and cut into cubes. * Boil the potato along with coriander powder, chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt. * When it perfectly cooked, keep aside. * Heat some oil in a pan add Fenugreek seeds and Mustard, when it pops add curry leaves. * Add onion, saute it till it becomes transparent. * Then add tomato pieces and saute it for 2-3 minu

     Wheat idiyappam is a healthy breakfast made with steamed wheat flour and coconut. It is very tasty and healthy. Water added in wheat flour may vary depending on the flour we used. Let's see how to make this wheat idiyappam. INGREDIENTS :- * Wheat flour - 1 cup * Water - 1/2 cup * Salt - to taste * Grated coconut - 3-4 Tbsp PREPARATION :- * Steam the wheat flour using a steamer for 4-5 minutes. * Wheat flour becomes little hard after cooling. * Powder this wheat flour using a mixer grinder. * Make sure the wheat flour becomes fine Powder without any lumps. * Boil water by adding oil and salt.when it becomes luke warm water remove from the flame. * Add luke warm water to the wheat flour, mix it with your hand till it gather to form a dough. * Grease the idiyappam steamer plate and idiyappam press well with oil. * Fill the idiyappam press with the dough. * Grease steamer plate with oil, press the idiyappam press in circular motion to fill the plate. * Pour some water in the steam

Koottu curry / Kerala sadhya recipe

    Koottu curry is one of the famous kerala sadya recipe. It's a semi sweet dry dish made with chana dal, ash guard, elephant yam, roasted coconut... Some of them use chickpea instead of chana dal. Roasted coconut with pepper and jaggery will make this a delightful treat. This is usually serve with boiled rice and sambar along with inji puli would be an ideal backup  for this curry. The vegetable used in the koottu curry may vary, some of them use raw banana and elephant yam. Kothu parotta

  Kothu parotta is a  famous south indian street food. IRU PULI

Iru puli is prepared using both butter milk and tamarind. In this gravy sourness coming from two sources, hence it is called as iru puli.   This goes well with roasted potatoes,  or any other roasted vegetables with rice. In this iru puli we can add vegetables of our choice like taro root, raw banana , carrot etc... , i am adding Ash guard and Elephant yam.    Ash guard is good for health. It contains rich source dietary fibre. It also has a significant amount of vitamin C and E. Which improve skin and hair health.    Elephant yam is a rich source of potassium, magnesium, selenium, zinc, phosphorus and calcium that will improve concentration and memory power. FISH CURRY WITH COCONUT

          Here I am sharing a coconut grinded fish curry. It is extremely simple and  tasty as well. Typically earthen pot is used to make these kinds of curries , on the grounds that it will improve the flavour of the curries. This is  a kerala style meen curry.  In this i am using  homemade chilly paste instead of using chilly powder, that gives  colour and perfect consistency to the meen curry.It goes well with boiled Kappa ( tapioca ) or rice. IDLI PODI / chutney powder

               Idli podi with oil is one of the best combination for idli. The fluffy idli dipped in this idli podi is a guaranteed delight. Use sesame oil or coconut oil for wetting the idli podi. Idli podi recipe, I'm sharing here is which I have been making for a long time.  Homemade idli podi has a special taste and is free of preservatives. It is also used as a substitute to chutney while travelling. Idli podi can also be eaten with hot boiled rice by mixing it with coconut oil or ghee. Palakkad style varutharacha sambar

        VARUTHARACHA SAMBAR    An aromatic and delicious sambar cooked with roasted coconut and spices that makes the perfect partner for boiled rice.   Subsequently varutharacha sambar taste not quite the same as the ordinary assortment of sambar, which is made with sambar powder. INGREDIENTS:- * Toor dal - 3/4 cup * water -  2 1/2 cup * Turmeric powder - 1/2 Tsp * Shallots - 4 + 10 * cury leaves - 1  sprigs * Vegetables - of your choose * Tomato - 2 medium * Tamarind - lemon sized * Jaggery - 1Tbsp FOR ROASTING:- * Grated coconut - 5-6 Tbsp * Coriander seeds - 1 1/2 Tbsp * Dried red chilly - 6-7 * Urad dal - 1/2 Tbsp * chana dal - 1/2 Tbsp * Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 Tsp * peppercorn - 1Tsp *  Asafoetida - 1Tsp * curry leaves - 1 sprigs * kashmiri chilly - 4 * salt - to taste   FOR SEASONING:- * Cocunut oil - 1 Tbsp * Dry red chilly - 2 * Mustard seeds - 1/2Tsp * Fenugreek seeds - 6 * Fennel seeds - 1/4Tspn * Curry leaves - 1 sprigs PREPARATION:- * Pressure cook the dal by adding 1/2tsp

Kerala style Tomato pachadi

  TOMATO PACHADI   This is a typical kerala style tomato pachadi.This is one of the delicious pachadi variety. It is quick to make because there is not much chopping needed.Goes well with rice and ghee or rice and sambar. INGREDIENTS:- * Tomato - 2 ( big size) * Green chilly - 4 * Grated coconut - 4Tbspn * oil - 1Tbspn * Mustard - 1/2 Tspn * Dried chilly - 2 * Onion - 1/2 * Curry leaves - * Curd - 5Tbspn * Salt - to taste PREPARATION:- * Grind the coconut along with green chilly ( not a fine paste take before that) * Heat a pan, add oil, mustard when it pops, add onion and saute it for 2-3 minutes. * Then add dried chilly and curry leaves. * Add cocunut paste , tomato pieces and salt. * Boil for 4-5 minutes untill the raw taste of coconut and tomato goes. * Add whipped curd to this mix and boil for  less than 1 minute . * Switch off the flame. * Serve with rice and ghee or rice and sambar.
