Easy rasam recipe
RASAM
Rasam is a spicy South Indian sadya recipes. This recipe is one of the every day dishes on south indian lunch recipe. It usually served as a side dish for rice. This is a quick recipe made without rasam powder. Rasam will tastes heavenly as well as warms the body and taste buds. It has a lots of health benefits, it is known to help in digestion.

Accompanied - Boiled rice
Combination :-
* Rice + Rasam + ghee + pappadam
* Rice + Rasam + curd + pickle
* Rice + Rasam + potato fry + pappadam
INGREDIENTS :-
* Tur dal - 1 Tbsp
* Coriander seeds - 1 Tbsn
* Pepper - 3/4 Tbsp
* Cumin seeds - 1 Tsp
* Turmeric powder - 1/4 Tsp
* Asafoetida powder - 3/4 Tsp
* Garlic - 8-10
* Green chilly - 2
* Tomato - 2
* Tamarind - 1 gooseberry sized
* Jaggery - 1 Tsp
* Coriander leaves - 1 hand full
* Salt - to taste
For seasoning :-
* Oil - 1 1/2 Tsp
* Mustard seeds - 1/2 Tsp
* Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 Tsp
* Dry red chilly - 3
* Curry leaves - 1 sprig
METHOD :-
* Put a pressure cooker on the stove , add Tur dal , turmeric powder along with enough water.
* Cook it till 4-5 whistles.
* Mash the cooked tur dal with water.
* Crush the pepper, cumin seeds and coriander seeds.
* Add the crushed ingredients to the mixer grinder along with green chilly, garlic, Tomato. Grind this.
* Add tamarind paste or juice to the mashed tur dal water along with grinded ingredients and salt.
* Add enough water. Cook until the raw taste of tamarind is completely gone.
* At this time add jaggery and asafoetida powder. Cook for 1- 2 minutes.
* Switch off the flame. Then add chopped coriander leaves.
* Put a pan on the stove add oil when it becomes hot add Mustard seeds, Fenugreek seeds when it pops up add curry leaves.
* Add this to the rasam. Close the lid for 5 minutes.
* Tasty rasam is ready to serve.
