Kerala style pappadam curry
Today I will like to share how to make pappadam curry. It goes well with steamed rice. The combination of steamed rice, pappadam curry and roasted potatoes is very tasty. Usually pappadam is served as an accompaniment to a meal. Pappadam has an important role in kerala sadhya. This pappadam curry is very easy to make and tasty too.
This delicious curry is made using crunchy pappadam.we will see how to prepare the pappadam curry.
INGREDIENTS :-
* Pappadam - 5
* Shallots - 7 + 2 ( 2 for grinding)
* Coconut Oil - 2 Tsp
* Curry leaves - 1 spring
* Fenugreek seeds - 7
* Tamarind - 1 gooseberry sized
* Turmeric powder - 1/4 Tsp
* Chilly powder - 1 1/2 Tsp
* Coriander powder - 1 1/2 Tsp
* Grated coconut - 6 - 7 Tbsn
* Cumin seeds - 1 pinch
* Salt - to taste
METHOD :-
* Cut the pappadam into 4 - 5 pieces.
* Deep fry the pappadam and keep aside.
* Heat oil in a kadai or earthen pot add Fenugreek when it pops up add 7 shallots (pieces) saute it till golden brown colour.
* Then add turmeric powder, chilly powder and coriander powder saute it for few seconds.
* At this time add tamarind paste and salt, boil till the raw taste is completely gone.
* Grind the grated coconut along with cumin seeds and 2 shallots to a fine paste.
* Add fried pappadam and coconut paste stir it continuously in medium flame till it starts bubbling. Switch off the flame.
* Add fresh curry leaves and coconut oil. Close it and keep aside for 5 minutes.
* Serve with boiled rice.
