   Broken wheat upma is a healthy and tasty breakfast. It's rich in fibre. Preparing this upma in pressure cooker is very easy. The only thing is the texture of the upma, some people prefer the dry texture upma other prefer little mushy upma. That depends on the water we are adding.we can add vegetables like carrot, beans, green peas etc. I made this using only carrot.

    Let's see the steps for preparing this healthy dish.

INGREDIENTS :-

* Broken wheat - 1 cup

* Onion - 1

* Green chilly - 2

* Ginger - 1 Inch piece

* Carrot - 1

* Curry leaves - 1 sprig

* Mustard - 1/2 Tsp

* Oil - 2 Tbsn

* Salt - to taste


METHOD :-

* Wash the wheat and soak it for 45 minutes. And drain well.

* Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a pan and roast the wheat for 3 minutes.

* put a pressure cooker on the stove add this roasted wheat. Add water ( for 1 cup of wheat add 1 1/2 cup of water ). Add salt.

* Close the lid. Cook it till 3 whistles in medium flame.

* When the pressure is completely gone, open the lid.

* Heat a kadai add 1 Tbsp of oil then add ginger pieces, green chilly, carrot , curry leaves and Sliced onion saute it till it becomes transperant.

* Then add cooked wheat to this mix it well. Switch off the flame.

* Tasty broken wheat upma is ready to serve.
